Resin Driveways Kent

A resin-bound driveway gives your property a clean, smooth finish with less regular weeding, fewer loose stones, and better drainage performance than many traditional surfaces. At LED Construction, we install permeable resin-bound driveways across Kent using suitable groundwork, clear resin, and natural aggregates chosen to suit your home.

Whether you need a new driveway from the ground up or an overlay on a suitable existing tarmac or concrete base, we’ll inspect the area properly before quoting. If resin-bound is the right option, we’ll explain the process clearly and provide a detailed, no-obligation quote. If the base is not suitable, we’ll tell you straight.

Resin-Bound Vs Resin-Bonded Driveways

We install resin-bound driveways because they give a smooth, permeable finish that lets water drain through the surface. This helps with SuDS compliance and can mean planning permission is not needed for many front driveways, provided surface water drains through the surface or to a permeable area.

Resin-bonded surfacing is different. It uses loose aggregate stuck onto a sealed base, so it is more textured and not permeable. That can affect drainage, wear, and planning permission.

At LED Construction, we install resin-bound systems because they offer the clean finish, drainage performance, and long-term reliability our Kent customers are looking for.

When Resin-Bound Works Best

We recommend resin-bound driveways when:

  • You want a low-maintenance surface with no re-pointing, re-sanding, or regular weeding
  • Your existing tarmac or concrete base is strong enough for an overlay
  • You want a natural stone finish that suits your brickwork, windows, or property style
  • Drainage is important, and you want water to pass through the surface instead of puddling
  • You need a permeable surface to help avoid planning permission issues

We will not recommend resin-bound if the base has movement, major cracks, or drainage problems that have not been fixed. Lying over a failing base only delays the issue, so we check this properly during the survey and give honest advice before quoting.

How Led Construction Installs A Resin-Bound Driveway

The installation starts before we mix a single batch of resin. Getting the preparation right is what separates a driveway that holds up for twenty-odd years from one that shows problems in two.

For a new installation, we prepare and compact a MOT Type 1 sub-base to the correct depth and lay the bound surface on top. For an overlay on existing tarmac or concrete, we assess the substrate first. If there’s movement, cracking, or water ingress underneath, we deal with that before anything goes on top of it.

On the day of laying, our in-house team mixes the UV-stable polyurethane resin with the washed, kiln-dried aggregate on site using a forced-action mixer. The mixture is spread to an even depth and hand-trowelled for a smooth, flush finish. No joins, no gaps for weeds to push through, no loose surface stones.

Curing takes 24 to 48 hours. You can walk on the surface within about a day; we ask you to keep vehicles off for 48 hours while the resin fully sets.

What Does A Resin-Bound Driveway Cost At Led Construction?

The price depends on the size of the area, whether it’s a new installation or an overlay, the aggregate you choose, and how much groundwork the site needs. We quote every job individually after a site survey. There’s no figure we can give you over the phone that means anything without seeing the base conditions.

What we don’t do is give you an estimate over the phone and revise it upwards once we’re on site. The quote we give after the survey is the price.

Keeping Your Resin-Bound Driveway In Good Shape

A properly installed resin-bound driveway can last 15 to 25 years, depending on the base preparation, resin quality, and basic upkeep.

We recommend simple maintenance such as:

  • Sweeping or blowing away leaves, especially in autumn
  • Pressure washing once or twice a year to reduce algae build-up
  • Keeping any drainage channels clear
  • Cleaning oil or fuel spills quickly with a mild detergent

We also advise avoiding boiling water on the surface, as it can soften the resin bond. Apart from that, resin-bound driveways need far less upkeep than block paving, gravel, or surfaces that require re-pointing, re-sanding, or regular weed control.
